Black Cat Radio Highlights Purple Horizons Campaign for Prostate Health Awareness
Purple Horizons recently joined Black Cat Radio’s Full English Breakfast show, with Ste Greenall, to discuss the growing importance of prostate health awareness and the life-saving value of PSA testing ahead of their upcoming Men’s Health Event on June 8th at The Citizen Hub.
The interview focused on the work being carried out by Purple Horizons to encourage more open conversations around men’s health, particularly prostate cancer awareness and the importance of early detection through PSA testing. The event on June 8th aims to bring together local organisations, advocates, and members of the community to provide information, support, and access to health advice in an open and welcoming environment.
Joining the discussion was Dave Young, a passionate advocate for prostate health awareness following his own prostate cancer diagnosis. Speaking candidly and movingly during the interview, Dave shared his personal experience and the impact early testing had on his life.
Describing himself as “one of the lucky ones,” Dave spoke about his determination to encourage more men to take prostate health seriously and to consider PSA testing. His message was clear: early detection can save lives, and greater awareness can help more people receive treatment before it is too late.
The interview highlighted the importance of breaking down stigma around men’s health conversations and ensuring communities have access to trusted information and support. Purple Horizons continues to work alongside local partners and campaigners like Dave Young to raise awareness, promote education, and encourage proactive approaches to health and wellbeing.
The Men’s Health Event on June 8th at The Citizen Hub will provide an opportunity for local people to learn more about prostate health, PSA testing, and wider men’s wellbeing initiatives while hearing directly from advocates and health organisations committed to making a difference.
