Purple Horizons Wild Beasts raise £400 for local charities

We are delighted that our latest PAINT IT PURPLE based on the live and work of Henri Matisse was such a success

‍Guests learnt about Matisse’s use of bright colour and how he was described as a Wild Beast

‍ The name Wild Beast was coined during the 1905 Salon d'Automne, where critics were shocked by the intense, vibrant colours used by Matisse, André Derain, and others.

‍ Fauvism is characterized by bold, often dissonant, colours, simplified forms, and expressive, painterly brushstrokes.

‍ Guests learnt about key works such Woman with a Hat (1905) and Open Window, Collioure (1905) and then created their own painting
