Following Monday’s (26th October 2026) Parliamentary debate on prostate cancer screening, the campaign for clearer guidance and greater access to early testing continues to gather vital momentum.
At Purple Horizons, through our campaign The Prostate Project, we stand firmly alongside patient advocates and local leaders who are making a tangible difference to men's health right here in our community.
A Community United Across Cambridgeshire
National policy discussions are essential, but the real impact happens on the ground. Our recent Prostate Screening Day in St Neots on 5th September demonstrated the power of community collaboration, setting a record with 122 men tested in a single day - and over 220 registering their interest.
This milestone achievement was made possible thanks to cross-regional support across Cambridgeshire, bringing together key representatives, civic leaders, and advocates, including:
Ian Sollom MP
Prostate patient advocates Dave Young and Jerry Williams
The Lord-Lieutenancy of Cambridgeshire
Huntingdonshire District Council
St Neots Town Council
Black Cat Radio, who helped raise crucial local awareness
Miss Shah MBE and her dedicated NHS team, who delivered the clinical testing
Having representatives from local councils, parliament, the healthcare sector, and local media unite behind a single health cause shows what can be achieved when a region comes together to protect its men and their families.
National Debate Meets Local Purpose
Monday’s Parliamentary debate followed a national petition signed by over 100,000 citizens calling for reformed prostate cancer screening guidelines.
With national guidance evolving around how GPs evaluate individual risk, raising public awareness and offering accessible, community-based options has never been more urgent. Early detection remains the single most effective tool in treating prostate cancer, yet early stages often develop without symptoms.
Looking Ahead: More Testing Days Planned for 2027
Our campaigning is not stopping here. Driven by the overwhelming response in St Neots, The Prostate Project is actively planning more PSA testing days in 2027.
Because MEN'S HEALTH MATTERS, we are committed to making sure every man has the information, encouragement, and opportunity he needs to take control of his health and make his own informed health decisions.
