Overcoming Adversity with Self Compassion Talk

On the 25th July 2024 Purple Horizons member Rajinder Malhi who is a Lifestyle, Mind Body Connection Coach, graced us with her amazing talk about Overcoming Adversity with Self Compassion.

Rajinder’s talk was inspiring and everyone left feeling not only much calmer but armed with technics to practice self compassion in their daily lifes.

We learnt how treating ourselves with warmth and understanding rather than harsh criticism or judgement especially in the face of personal failure or in difficult situations can make such a difference.

We recognised that suffering and imperfection are part of our shared human experience and as such recognised our common humanity.

We were delighted that £150 was raised in support of Addenbrookes Charitable Trust’s Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital.‍ ‍Donna Lee-Willis, Head of Community Fundraising at Addenbrooke's Charitable Trust (ACT) said

Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital will change the story of cancer. It will bring together clinical and research expertise in a new, world-class hospital, designed in partnership with our patients. We will detect cancer earlier, treat it more precisely and save more lives. What happens here in Cambridge will have a huge impact across the region, the UK and the world. The breakthroughs and innovations we deliver will change the way we detect and treat cancer far beyond our hospital, bringing hope to millions of people.

We are so grateful for the support we get from our fundraisers who are helping to make this hospital possible.  Thank you so much to everyone that supports Purple Horizons at their events in order for them to raise vital funds”

I attended a Purple Horizons fund raising event with a friend. Rajinder was the guest speaker and she gave us a truly inspirational talk about her life and how she had changed it. She gave us many positive ideas and ways to improve our mindset and attitude. We had a lovely evening, Angela and everyone involved made us so welcome and we came away feeling very inspired. It was a pleasure to attend the event and contribute to the very worthy causes that Purple Horizons support.
