Paint it Purple - Henri Matisse

25th February

6.30 - 9.30pm

We are delighted to confirm our next Paint It Purple evening on Wednesday February 25th at The Citizens Hub in St Neots, in aid of Papworth Trust and Ormiston Families.  As you will recall Paint It Purple is a series of events celebrating art, creativity, and the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic paintings.

On Wednesday, 25th February we will focus on the life and work of Henri Matisse (1869–1954), one of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Guests will learn about Matisse’s use of bold colour, expressive shapes and decorative pattern, and how his work was inspired by nature, music, interiors, and everyday life.

Lisa Bamford, who has over 30 years teaching experience in Art, Photography and Art History, will share her knowledge of Matisse during a talk at the start of the evening.

Guests will then be invited to create their own artwork, either by interpreting Matisse’s work (Open Window, Collioure 1905, Interior with Goldfish Bowl, 1914, The Window, 1916 and Interior Egyptian Curtain 1948) directly or by exploring alternative colour palettes and subjects inspired by Matisse’s style.

We are delighted that Lauren Keating (a local talented artist), will also be available to provide guidance, ensuring the session is accessible and enjoyable for all abilities. All materials will be provided and guests will take home their own piece of art work.

The evening will include tea, coffee, and light refreshments, with a bar open for the purchase of additional drinks.

Tickets, which are strictly limited, will be issued on a first come first served basis.  If you would like to purchase a ticket/s please can you email your request for tickets to purplehorizons2019@icloud.com and transfer the money to the account below:
