SOLD OUT!
Purple Horizons is delighted to introduce Paint it Purple – a new series of evening events celebrating art, creativity, and the stories behind some of the world’s most iconic paintings.
Our inaugural event will take place on Wednesday, 1st October, and will focus on the life and work of Vincent van Gogh. Participants will gain insight into Van Gogh’s remarkable career, his artistic influences, and the inspiration behind his celebrated masterpieces, The Starry Night and his sunflowers paintings. Future artist will include Georgia O’Keeffe, David Hockney and Henri Matisse.
Lisa Bamford, who has over 30 years teaching experience in Art, Photography and Art History, will share her knowledge on Van Gogh during a 20 minute talk at the start of the evening. Guests will then be invited to create their own artwork, either by interpreting The Starry Night/Sunflowers directly or by exploring alternative colour palettes and subjects inspired by Van Gogh’s style – for example, painting a green background or a vase of sunflowers in striking blues.
A talented and experienced artist, Lauren Keating, will be available to provide guidance, ensuring the session is accessible and enjoyable for all abilities. All materials will be provided and guests will take home their own piece of art work.
The evening will include tea, coffee, and light refreshments, with a bar open for the purchase of additional drinks.
